Benjamin Boles started writing about music for NOW in 2001, after doing time at OCAD for sound and video installation art. Originally covering underground dance music and club culture, he's currently the Music Editor, and makes the hard decisions about what makes it into the paper each week. Outside of NOW, he's played guitar, bass, lap steel and electronics in dozens of bands, including projects featuring members of the Deadly Snakes, Lullabye Arkestra, Do Make Say Think, Azari & III, C'mon and many other local indie heroes. He currently plays guitar in the band Mamabolo. As a DJ, he's held residencies at clubs like the Drake Hotel and Thymeless, and made guest appearances at everything from the Promise Cherry Beach parties to legendary venues like Roxy Blu. Other than being obsessed with music, he enjoys shooting digital zombies to blow off steam.
