


Wayne has been a contributor to NOW magazine since 1989, and writes about themes linking social justice, public health, and green economics. He has a PhD in social and economic history from the University of Toronto, and has written seven books including The No-Nonsense Guide to World Food, Get a Life and Real Food for a Change.
In 2002 he received the Canadian Environment Award for his contribution to sustainable living. Wayne managed the Toronto Food Policy Council (TFPC), a citizen body of 30 food activists and experts that is recognized for their innovative approach to food security. In 2009 TFPC received the Bob Hunter Environmental Achievement Award.
Aside from writing frequently on food topics for NOW, Wayne serves on the boards of several major food organizations, including FoodShare, Food Secure Canada and Unitarian Service Committee /Seeds of Diversity.
