Most of the crowd out at the second annual Craft Beer Festival & Summer BBQ were clearly there mainly to sample the large assortment of micro-brews, so you have to give the musical acts credit for successfully managing to command the attention of the audience.
And considering that both Bonjay and Everything All The Time are fronted by powerhouse soul singer Alanna Stuart, she deserves special mention for being able to compete with the flowing refreshments.
Everything All The Time are a synth-fueled six-piece who allude to dance music here and there, but are grounded mainly in catchy uptempo indie rock. They’re about to release a new EP this month, and if the new songs previewed at the show are any indication, we’re in for a treat.
By the time Bonjay hit the stage, beer-exhaustion had sent a good chunk of the crowd home, but Stuart and her DJ/producer Pho still managed get a dance floor going immediately. Unlike EATT, Bonjay are definitely routed in club music, specifically electro, dancehall reggae and R&B, which allows Stuart to flex her vocal muscles more. Look out for their debut release in the fall.
