This is the zone that’s counting on interactivity to bring the big fun. Curated by Gregory Elgstrand and Thom Sokoloski and putting the emphasis on sound, its circus of ideas collides with a nocturnal urban fantasia that explores the present, past and future. Join a parade you can hear but not see at Old City Hall, for example, or gaze into a looking glass on high in the Eaton Centre. Zone A also features 37 Independent Projects waiting to be discovered.
Bill Viola - The Reflecting Pool and Ancient Of Days (OBN Video Screen, above Canadian Tire entrance, southeast corner, Bay and Dundas)
Gordon Monahan - Space Becomes the Instrument (at Massey Hall)
Shaun El C. Leonardo - Battle Royal (Toronto Coach Terminal, 610 Bay)
Geoffrey Farmer - The Blinking Eyes Of Everything (Church of the Holy Trinity, behind Eaton Centre)
