Store of the Week

Yoka

If you need more than lake, sand and sun to lure you to the Beach this summer, add shopping at Yoka to the list of incentives. Carla Kloosterhuis’s colourful Queen East boutique specializes in Dutch brands, including GSUS, Anna Scott and DEPT, with a few Canadian labels like Body Bag by Jude and Dinh Bà thrown in, too.

There’s still at least a month of hot weather left to get multiple wears out of pieces like GSUS’s sheer blouses or racks of short-to-maxi-length dresses in floral and plaid prints. Accessorize your buy with an oversized bag or a piece of Sandwich jewellery strung with jawbreaker-sized crystals and wooden beads.

Menswear focuses on casual but tailored shirts and knits by Ben Sherman and J.C. Rags.

Yoka picks: Look well-travelled in GSUS’s postcard-print navy sundress, $229; the Seraglio jewellery collection includes chunky metal bangles and necklaces, $19 to $49; a Ben Sherman polo’s vertical pink and yellow stripes give it a Havana shirt look, $98.

Look for: Yoka’s summer sale starting August 1: 50 per cent off all summer stock.

Hours: Monday to Friday 11 am to 8 pm, Saturday 10 am to 7 pm, Sunday noon to 6 pm.
