Those gotta-get-’em red mittens are the hit of this year’s Olympic shopping haul. After selling out over the holidays, Toronto’s flagship Bay store has restocked the woolly hand warmers just in time for the Games’ February 12 opening and added more must-have buys, like CANUCK-printed T-shirts and buffalo check scarves, to its second-floor Vancouver 2010 shop.

If you’ve been slipping your feet into winter’s footwear fads, you’ve found yourself tumbling down the sidewalk in over-the-knee styles and platform booties. Late January boot shoppers are looking for practicality in all its cozy, dry hardiness, usually starting and ending their search at the Australian Boot Company.

Torontonians love Scandinavian design, but up until now our sources for Finnish furniture and Swedish housewares have been mostly limited to mid-century-stocked vintage shops and, of course, Ikea. John Baker and Juli Daoust boosted that selection substantially when they opened Mjölk in the Junction last month, bringing in a bounty of simple but stylish furnishings and accessories.
