Irene Stickney
Fashion Week

Fourth-year Ryerson fashion student Irene Stickney hasn’t waited till graduation to throw herself into the style scene. Between design crits and studio deadlines, she found time to launch the KnowDressCode design collective, contribute to TorontoStreetFashion.com and show at Alternative Fashion Week.

Her final school collection will be presented at the Mass Exodus show April 8 and 9. It includes a narrow-channel down coat made with over 200 pattern pieces, and a dress with quilted shoulder panels inspired by gory Dario Argento horror films and designers c-neeon and Matthew Ames.

Stickney claims her forward grouping is safer than usual in order to appease market-conscious profs. She’ll be free to blow us away with unlimited force after a year off planned to develop her art-to-wear aesthetic.

As this is the 'Year Of The Gorilla' would you Folks be interested in this following story? A truly amazing adventure making a positive differance in the world about us by useing the arts as the means toward saving both the Gorillas, habitat and the people of whom survive in those areas!

Over the last few years both my wife and I have been working diligently to create international awareness toward the plight of Endangered Species and the impact it has toward both our communities and society as a whole along with a well received 'solution' !

As an internationally well known 'High Realist Wildlife Artist' both my wife and I have retuned from a precedent UN acknowledged Expedition deep into the heartland of Africa's Cameroon 'Lebialem Highland' jungles in search of the MOST endangered gorilla on the planet, the 'Cross River Gorilla' (250-300 alive) were we climbed straight down into the valley below, along a treacherous 7km trail, carrying a heavy load of 75 lb each on our back in the unrelenting rains were we lived in habitat to study, sketch this near extinct primate creating the first ever professional painting bringing international awareness toward its dire plight (4 year window) This was highlighted in a report to the 'Executive Board of the United Nations' an amazing honour indeed!

We also lived within very remote villages, met with a great assembly of Chiefs and King(s) over a long heated debate of whom we were and why we needed to travel in through their valley area offering then a very well received solution to the primate situation, other then to hunt them into soon extinction. As well, we taught scores of school children, also in remote areas, about the Gorillas and primates using the Arts as the educational tool. A very exciting story in its self ! With pounding hearts in fear we met up with machete wielding poachers illegally selling dead monkeys hanging from sticks soon followed pending reprisals as they realised of whom we represented!

Of course there is so very much more to relay. For your interest please view www.youtube.com search words: 'cross river gorilla' and www.art-for-africa.net

Thank you ever so much for this consideration in request.

Warm regards, Daniel Taylor
