Creep

When Hiroshi Awai’s brother Kiyofumi asked him to take over design duties on his Japan-based line Creep, he had never drafted a piece of clothing. Since moving to Toronto in 2000, Hiroshi had been working as a chef, but Kiyofumi thought his time in Canada made him better equipped to create the workwear-style clothing coveted by North American men.

After a three-month illustrator course at George Brown, Creep was re-launched for spring 2009 and immediately picked up by Urban Outfitters. Lavish & Squalor at Queen and Duncan is carrying fall’s corduroy shirts and flannel-lined slacks, but we’re already eagerly anticipating next season’s pieces. Retro Lilly Pulitzer prints inspired a collection of paisley shorts, anchor knit cardigans and striped shirting headed for TNT’s racks in the spring. creep-clothing.com.
