Coraline Gift Set

Lonely 10-year-old Coraline crawls through a forgotten door and discovers an alternate world with a much nicer mother than her grumpy real one. Eventually, Other Mother’s nasty agenda emerges.

Elaborate camera moves and 3-D bring life and depth to Coraline’s richly detailed animated world. The set pieces – an exotic garden and a pair of bizarre circus acts – are like nothing ever seen.

The red/green 3-D glasses leach out the nuances of colour and design, but you can flip the disc for the 2-D version and be amazed. Either way, it’s the best stop-motion movie ever made.

The 10-part making-of doc covers everything from the art of miniature knitting to the methods of creating character. Through it all, director Henry Selick communicates his love of the work so well that some kids may find the seeds of a career.

Set comes with a hardbound book, a digital copy and four pairs of 3-D glasses.
