Along with all 98 episodes of the massively popular kids’ animation about the war between good robots and bad, you get a comprehensive episode guide with some character bios, a couple of fridge magnets, some detailed retrospective making-of docs, plus scripts, a gallery and more.

The series is well animated by the standards of the day, with stories and characters a cut above average. The docs are brilliant. One focuses on the toys, others on the comic, the fans and the series. Best is the half-hour spent with the voice cast, lively men who drop into character voices in a blink and offer a non-stop stream of funny stories and insight into their craft. Hands down, this is the best look I’ve seen at voice acting.
