best place to park your scooter
The Mod Club
(Wednesdays at Lava, 507 College, and Saturdays at Revival, 783 College)

You don't want to leave your vintage Vespa or Lambretta just anywhere. When Mod kids go out to dance to northern soul, this is where they park their rides.
best place to hear country music at 5 am
Matador photo by STEVE PAYNE

The Matador
(466 Dovercourt, 416-533-9311)

Last call needn't necessarily mean an end to the night's festivities. When most bars are shutting down, the Matador's just getting going, churning out the old-time twang from after 2 am until dawn. The weekend's entertainment is written in chalk on the front door, there's dancing inside, and Harrison Ford's been known to stop by for a little after-hours two-step.
best bar to go to and not coming home smelling of smoke
The Horseshoe
(370 Queen West, 416-598-4753)

Since the smoke-free-environment bylaw kicked in, the Horseshoe staff have been more diligent than most at getting puff sneaks to butt out in the rear room. Not only has the policy made it possible to see the band onstage, you no longer need to bathe in tomato juice when you get home.
best theatre intermission cookies
Tarragon Theatre
(30 Bridgman, 416-531-1827)

Entr'acte snacks soar with a selection of chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin. The best? Double chocolate chip. The source? The Cookie Store (930 Pape, 416-422-3335).
