Fringe Web Report for July 11, 2003
By JON KAPLAN
The critics have had their say over the past week, but now the Fringe audiences have theirs.
The annual Patrons' Pick Fundraising performances are the first shows at each venue on Sunday (July 13), the final day of the 2003 Fringe. The company with the best-selling show in nine indoor venues (the KidsVenue isn't part of this, by the way) gets an additional eighth performance, based on ticket sales for the first week of the festival.
As with all shows, up to 50 per cent of the tickets for every performance are available for advance purchase by the usual means, up to 8 pm on Saturday (July 12). All remaining tickets go on sale an hour before the show at the venue itself.
Boxx-office receipts for the extra show are split between the company and the Fringe itself.
Here are the chosen shows :
Royal St. George - The Awesome Club Playhouse Presents: It's Raining Fun (noon)
St.Vladimir's - By The Bog Of Cats (noon)
Glen Morris - Back To Mine (noon)
Artword - Meet The Imponderables (12:30 pm)
Factory Studio - An Act Of God (noon)
Factory Mainspace - Mothers (12:30 pm)
Robert Gill - The Ugly Duchess (12:30 pm)
George Ignatieff - Job II: The Demon Of The Eternal Recurrence (12:30 pm)
Helen Gardiner Phelan - P.S. 69 (noon)
It's gonna require an extra push for some companies. The Awesome Club was already scheduled for the next slot, a 2 pm performance, so they'll be doing shows back to back.
Not quite so bad for By The Bog Of Cats, which also has a show at 6:30 pm, but it's an emotionally and physically draining piece for the 11-member ensemble.
