A cute little patio cafe called Praha (111 Dupont, at Davenport, 416-413-1081) has just launched north of Designers Walk and will no doubt be an instant hit with the fashion set. And their assistants. Expect a lunch- and brunch-only Czech card of such mittel-European fare as chilled borscht with sauerkraut and sour cream, open-faced sandwiches topped with house-smoked turkey breast, pear shavings and melted Gouda, as well as old-school high-carb cabbage rolls, chicken schnitzel and cabbage rolls.

Loons 416 Roncesvalles, at Howard Park, 416-535-8561. Half-price wings and Sunday-night $13.99 prime rib specials out back of this olde English local.
Mexitaco 828 Bloor West, at Shaw, 416-537-6693. Just west of the Pits, this cheap and cheerful taqueria delivers no-nonsense Mexican meals – tortillas layered with grilled steak, pineapple-marinated shaved pork, or spicy sausage sided with yellow achiote rice – from its fenced-in verandah.
